Corigliano Calabro and its history.

It stands on a hill dominated by a castle, in a picturesque panoramic position, situated at 270m.

The lovely town was founded by the inhabitants of St. Mauro to the principle of 'the eleventh century. In the medieval castle of the princes Ruffo (XV) with four towers and drawbridge, is a Madonna and Child by Francesco Morelli works fine.
Lower down we find Schiavonea (Marine Corigliano) equipped with an airy and beautiful beach, sunk in the citrus groves, lively seaside resort and equipped. It is home to the Shrine of St. Mary of Illyria, a pilgrimage, which was originally a Basilian monastery. It is an octagonal building with a dome decorated. Interesting the icon of the thirteenth century, covered with silver leaf with parts of bream, which surmounts the main altar.
